Given to Josephine Kackloudis by her godfather, James Tsoukala circa 1930s. Around that time, single men would congregate at the restaurant at 79th and Woodland Ave., owned by the Diakandrou family. Mrs. Kackloudis would meet her godfather there for lunch and he often gave her a gift. Comments from the Donor: Mrs. Kackloudis thinks the word is “enthemio” which means remembrance or souvenier. She does not know what the symbol means. This was given to her by her godfather, James Tsoukalas, who was a bachelor. Mrs. Kackloudis at that time was about 8-10 years old and is now 90 years old. The vest is blue and green and very faded on left sleeve and middle front and top back. Metallic silver trim runs along all edges and used in four parallel lines on the back. Red fabric borders the edges of the collar and down the front opening. There are decorative bronze colored balls that go along either side of the vest on the front. The sleeves are only attached at the top. There is a rip in the fabric along the left and right side of the vest. A lot of the metallic trim is frayed or missing. Handmade.
